Connection has always been my primary focus in how I live my life. I am a former actor, painter, and have been a bartender for over 15 years. For me, all of these are creative acts of connection. As a bartender, my primary task is to listen to my guests. This helps them feel seen and more comfortable in their skin. When I am at my best behind the bar I am open and vulnerable, which puts my guests at ease and begins a connection between us.
During the shutdown, I was no longer able to connect with the world across the bar as I used to, so I started painting my cocktails. I initially ran a 30-day email subscription of my original cocktail recipes and art. This allowed me to share something personal and forced me to be open and vulnerable like I am behind the bar. I then created a cocktail book of my paintings and recipes, which I print locally here in Seattle.
Now I have created art prints and greeting cards of my work as well, all of which are available online. I am grateful to be back behind the bar again, and painting is still a part of my routine. I am grateful to have found this new creative outlet in my life, and to continue to create and share my work. If youβre interested in a custom piece of a specific cocktail, please reach out to me directly!
My hope is that these beautiful paintings bring some joy and whimsy in stressful times. And that getting to experience these cocktails through creating, imbibing, and sharing them with loved ones provide you with some pleasure and as it does for me.
